![]() It tells the story of how the Monkey King rebels against the Jade Emperor of Heaven. ![]() ![]() The plot is based on an episode of the shenmo fantasy novel Journey to the West, a Chinese literary classic written in the Ming Dynasty by Wu Cheng'en (you might remember the TV series Monkey Magic based on the same text). Yen also serves as the film's action director. The Monkey King is an upcoming Hong Kong film directed by Cheang Pou-soi and starring Donnie Yen as the titular protagonist. It stars the ever-so-cute Gong Myung and Hello Venus’ Yooyoung and a number of other characters who get stuck in a convenience store together… until the lights go out. He’s actually made a series of films with similar titles and themes Faceless Thing (2005) and Stateless Things (2011). Directed by Kim Kyung-Mook, Futureless Things is a 24-hour style drama where opposite lives are forced to converge. ![]() Futureless Things has just been released in Korea ( June 2014) so hopefully you can get hands on it soon. ![]()
